Job Description:
Gunsmith is responsible for performingall level of maintenance on all weapons within the CCEP. To include but notlimited to the assembly and the disassembly of domestic and foreign weaponsassigned to the CCEP. Gunsmithe are to ensure that the weapon they work functionssafely IAW the applicable Technical Manual. During inspection, gunsmiths usetheir in-depth knowledge to determine if there are any unsafe mechanicalproblems with the weapon. They will repair or adjust the weapon to make surethat it is safe to use.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs cleaning and preventive maintenance checks andservices on small arms and crew served weapons.
Conducts an initial inspection, identify faults and identifyingparts required for service and/or repair and.
Replaces broken or worn parts in accordance withspecification of the technical manuals and bulletins.
Perform modification of weapons and accessories inaccordance with Department of Army modification work order bulletins
Work Environment:
Dirt, dust, grease and oils are alwayspresent. Periodiclly use of cleaning solvent in a parts cleaning machine. Canbe exposed to loud noise and chemicals that may burn orirritate the skin andeyes, if proper personal protective equipment is not worn.
Must be able to pass a law enforcementbackground check.
Be able to obtain a security clearance.
May be required to work overtime, nights, weekends andholidays.
Qualifications and Experience:
Qualifications:
Proficient in the full range of workinvolved in gauging and repairing of all weapons assigned to the CCEP.
Proficient in determining exact natureof repairs required through complete disassembly, service checks, gauging,reassembly and functional test of all weapons assigned to the CCEP.
Proficient in the use of hand tools, calibrated gauges, testequipment, scopes, jigs and alignment devices.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent is required; 2 yearsexperience working with weapons or having knowledge of weapon maintenance.
Language:
Must beable to read and understand English
Certificates/Licenses:
Must possess a valid state driver's license.
Physical Demands:
Work requires prolongedstanding or sitting at a maintenance table, while performing job function.
Physically able to stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist,lift, pull, climb balance, crouch, carry and move items up to 50 pounds withoutassistance.
