Multi-Purpose Canine Trainer

Job Summary: 
The Canine Trainer will utilize operant and classical training techniques in line with the United States Police Canine Association standards and guidelines for patrol, police services and detection of explosives, drugs, cell phone and other source odors as necessary. Specific training tasks trained will include but are not limited to Obedience, controlled Aggression, Scouting, Article Search, Building Search, Tracking and Decoying. Manipulate canine behavior through proper decoying/baiting techniques. Properly secure, handle, transport and account for canine training aids ATF and FDLE guidelines and company Standard Operating Procedures. Prepare canines for operational missions to include acclimation into new and various environments. Develop and follow established training protocols in accordance with FDLE, USPCA and NAPWDA standards and guidelines. Effectively document canine training records and assist when needed in instruction of new handlers and trainers. Perform operational searches as needed.
Provide Canine Welfare for all canines
Follow established training protocols and company directives in the training of canines under the direction of SCK9 President & Director of Training.
Train and manage multiple canines through the training process
Properly utilize canine training equipment to include safety equipment for canines, trainers and decoys.
Secure and account for canine training equipment, company vehicles, canine trailers and company facilities.
Maintain the cleanliness of training areas and company vehicles, canine trailers, resources and facilities.
Arrange operational exercises at SCK9 off-site training locations
Follow standard operating procedures when conducting and performing operation searches.
All other duties as requested.

Requirements:
Must have knowledge of established processes, methods and techniques as well as practical knowledge of principles of multi-purpose canine training and/or handling law enforcement and/or military canines.
Requires a High school diploma and equivalent of plus 3 years of relevant experience in the practices of canine training within a police or federal agency.
