RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Counter-Improvised Explosive Device Trainer serves as SMEs as part of the WSTC-KU Udairi Range Support Team.
Assist units with planning and development that support the training objectives, to include scenarios.
Develop and maintain currency and situational awareness on the current IED, initiator, EOF, and cache trends as well as Red ambush TTPs, Blue IED-D TTPs, and Blue BIP TTPs using various reports and updates provided by JIDA, AWG, NGIC,USARCENT, and other in-theater assets.
Develop and maintain expert level understanding of C-IED principles and fundamentals, IED-D drills, predictive/pattern analysis, medical planning in a combat environment, fixed site security defense principals and fundamentals, the Attack the Network philosophy, and utilizing METT-TC.
Develop and maintain SME level knowledge of special equipment employment, operation, manning, and troubleshooting; as well as IED/initiator trends and emerging IED-D technologies.
Develop and maintain instructor level knowledge of battlefield equipment, support, and information enablers with special emphasis on mounted and dismounted CREW devices.
Understand Program of Instruction (POI) development, design, certification, execution, and modification/update processes.
Know and understand lane training methodology as well as employ and operate standard and non-standard Training Aids, Devices, Simulators, and Simulations (TADSS) in support of numerous Situational Training Exercise (STX) lanes.
Research and develop a working knowledge of electronics, IED components, initiators, and power sources in order to provide general instruction of how the IED works and to facilitate fabrication of non-standard TADSS for classroom, display, and STX lane usage.
Oversees the maintenance of all training areas assigned to the team. Ensures each site is prepared for training and is IAW prescribed safety standards established by ASG-Kuwait.
Responsible for the accurate accountability of all equipment assigned to the team. Conducts 100% inventory of all assigned equipment identifying any short comings to appropriate agency.
Briefs distinguished visitors on team’s capabilities as directed by the Senior Range Operations Manager.
Maintain currency with new and shifting Army and USMC doctrine; familiarize and understand CF doctrine.
Maintain working relationships with tenant and temporary units.
Assist with managing the C-IED, Search, and Engineer Training as well as the Program of Instruction (POI) development, design, certification, execution, and modification/update processes in order to maintain currency.
MINIMUM TANGIBLE QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires demonstrated work experience as it relates to the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities outlined in the description of the duties.
Former Combat Arms/Operations with a strong tactical background in Unified Land Operations.
Thorough knowledge of current Army doctrine, Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs).
HBCT/CAV background preferred or qualified through like experience as determined by the Site / Exercise Support Manager.
Must have a Secret Clearance.
Must have a Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of related work experience. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of education requirement.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
May require additional specialized experience and/or previous military service in the fields of IN, FA, AR, EN, SF, or other qualifying like experience as determined by the Site / Exercise Support Manager.
Prefer additional skills / experience in Scout, Mortar, Sniper or Artillery.
Prefer former SFC or above Army/USMC.
Prior assignment to a maneuver CTC as an Observer/Controller or extensive CTC experience as BLUFOR/OPFOR.
CTC experience preferred.
Thorough knowledge of the military decision making process (MDMP).
