Position Description:
Sr Training & Development Specialist will perform all duties required to support the Games for Training programs at one of the designated locations (listed below) and must have experience as a gaming suite trainer/operator for the US Army Virtual Battlespace 2/3 (VBS2/3) games-based training system that provides military personnel with a platform to train small unit tactics, techniques and procedures in Decisive Actions. The candidate must be able to perform duties as a maintainer, Observer/Controller Trainer (OC/T) and Instructor/Operator (IO) for the VBS2 suite of game-for-training simulations. This opportunity requires a skilled gaming simulations trainer/operator that has the experience and ability to develop realistic training scenarios that align with operational training objectives and a talented training facilitator capable of assisting in the training and AAR process to ensure mission success. This position also requires the performance of other duties as prescribed by management to enhance the training/learning process and customer satisfaction.
Specific tasks to be performed by the candidate are:
Install, Operate and Maintain the GFT Applications, to include troubleshooting and resolving GFT software, hardware and network problem, real-time editing, and backup/recovery of all GFT data elements.
Configuration Management; Maintain GFT applications. The candidate will manage version control and continuous integration, for all configuration management requirements. Install, Configure & Operate existing & Emerging Army Stimulation-to-command and control (C2) interfaces; configure gaming hardware, software, and peripheral equipment to interface with Army Stimulation C2 interfaces as required.
Reformat and manipulate geographic information system (GIS) source data for imagery; build, add or modify imagery features not contained in source data to produce gaming terrain data sets to support proponent education requirements.
Provide Modeling and/or animation support; the modeler/animator shall apply knowledge of the technological capabilities and limitations associated with modeling and texturing for gaming solutions in support of the proponent school education needs.
Apply scripting language to augment and enhance behaviors; create simple functions in a client scripting language. The gaming technical person(s) shall manipulate gaming application software to enhance artificial intelligence (AI) actions through scripting.
Maintain training content; update the MilGaming web site and its content: graphics, animations, scenarios, models, terrain, training support packages (TSPs), and videos.
Authoring training tasks; the gaming technical person(s) shall assist proponent training developers build proponent training content: placing objects and entities, defining artificial intelligence (AI) actions through scripting, creating and integrating audio assets, and displaying text and graphics, as defined in approved project documentation. Participates in education courseware and program of instruction (POI) planning events.
Administer the GFT systems during exercises and training events; participates in After Action Reviews (AARs) IAW TC 25-20, manage the GFT security compliance activities, to include the design and development of GFT information technology (IT) strategies at the local level.
Maintains accountability of gaming furnished equipment; maintains accountability of gaming hardware, software, peripheral equipment, and other gaming related items.
Instruct training audience to operate GFT systems and tools; instructs local personnel and Soldiers as required on the use of all gaming applications.
Required Skills:
A minimum of 4+ years experience training Army units with simulations and simulators in a collective setting
Acquire an A+, Network+, and Security+ within 6 months of hire
At least 5 years of experience with exercise life cycle (ELC) concepts and milestones
GFT and/or other gaming/gaming-related applications and the configuration, management and maintenance of those applications to include installation, configuration, and operation of existing and emerging Army Stimulation-to-command and control (C2) interfaces
Troubleshooting and resolving GFT/other gaming software, hardware, and network problems, real-time editing and backup/recovery of GFT/other gaming data elements
Reformatting and manipulating geographic information (GIS) source data for imagery
Ability to maintain website and website content
Demonstrated ability to apply scripting language to augment and enhance behaviors; and to create simple functions in a client scripting language
Demonstrated ability to manipulate gaming application software to enhance artificial intelligence (AI) through scripting
Ability to communicate the technical requirements of the GFT to local simulation leadership, and assist the on-site government lead on all GFT technical and exercise preparation issues
Ability to conduct briefings, participate in technical meetings, routinely present contractor status and performance reviews for internal and external audiences
Ability to obtain/maintain a US Secret Security clearance
Experienced in building and managing favorable customer relationships
Excellent oral and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to conduct presentations in front of senior level management and customers
Strong inter-personal skills and demonstrated ability to work across diverse groups of people and at all levels of an organization
Demonstrated ability to lead and work effectively in a team environment
Detailed knowledge and experience in Army operations and training, military doctrine, current tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs) and force structure are required
Desired Skills:
Former military company grade officer or senior non-commissioned officer with a seasoned practical working knowledge or Counter-Improvised Explosive Devices (C-IED) and Improvised Explosive Devices-Defeat (IED-D) organization and doctrine
Combat Training Center and/or combat experience in Iraq or Afghanistan
Working knowledge of Gaming software applications
Familiarity with Training Aids, Devices, Simulators and Simulations (TADSS) and Microsoft Office skills and the ability to teach military personnel and/or brief senior military and civilian officials.
Certifications: A+, Network+, and Security+ (IAT Level I and IAT Level II)
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree or 8 additional years in designing training scenarios and simulation experience may consider 8 years of related experience in lieu of education requirement.
