Summary
Full-Time Explosive Detection K-9 Handler to perform duties in the Washington DC area. The team serves to prevent unauthorized explosive devices from entering their assigned facility. The individual will work approximately 40 hours per week.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide Explosive Detection Support as directed by site manager to include searching vehicle, cargo trucks and delivery vans
Conducts on site weekly training
Prepares and maintain documentation to ensure through training of assigned canine
Handler shall inspect all incoming mail, packages and other deliveries being made to the facility in accordance with established procedures
Handler shall conduct roving EDDT outer-perimeter patrols of the facility and occupied space in accordance with established procedures.
Handler shall maintain comprehensive knowledge of rules regulations, practices and procedures pertaining to bomb threats, explosive detection, and emergency responses, appropriate on-scene actions that are common industry standards.
Handler shall maintain a comprehensive knowledge of Improvised Explosive Devices (IED), their use, handling procedures, practices, recognition, and actions.
Qualifications and Experience:
Must be a US citizen
Must have a minimum of 2 years documented successful experience in security, law enforcement, military service or commercial industry in security service.
Must have a minimum of 1 year documented successful experience as a certified Explosive Detector Dog Handler.
Must possess training certificates and DD 214 if applicable
Must be able to pass required background check to include no unresolved financial issues
Must not have any violent crime felonies, spouse or child abuse convictions.
Must be able to provide personal and professional references.
Must possess self-control, patience, self-discipline, maturity, attention to detail and a neat and professional appearance
Must possess unquestionable integrity and exercise good judgment
Candidates currently residing in Washington, DC, Maryland or Northern Virginia strongly preferred as relocation assistance is not available for this position.
Benefits / Additional Notes:
2 weeks paid leave after completing 1 year contract
10 paid federal holidays.
Position comes with a company vehicle and up to a $200.00 fuel stipend.
Health insurance is available.
Uniforms are provided and the handler is paid 0.25 cents per hour in addition to maintain uniform.
Health and Welfare wage is optional
