We currently have a career opportunity for the U.S. Head of Security. This leadership role will be responsible for overseeing security investigations, fraud, loss prevention, and regulatory security compliance for DHL Express U.S. The successful candidate will also be the principal subject matter expert for technical and regulatory matters, and should be familiar with such governing agencies as the FAA, TSA, and Homeland Security. The candidate will serve as part of the U.S. Operation’s senior management team, interacting frequently with our executive board, and be based in the America’s region Hub in Cincinnati, OH.
The successful candidate will be an experienced leader with excellent communication skills, the ability to create and deliver high impact presentations to customers, executives and employees, and have the mindset that supports DHL’s corporate strategies and goals. The position is responsible for a highly motivated, empowered team of professionals dedicated to ensuring DHL’s adherence to legal requirements and the maintenance of a secure network for our customers. The candidate reports to the U.S. Head of Operations for DHL Express.
Core Responsibilities:
Leads U.S. Security Team with a respect and results mindset by setting corporate security initiatives and the development of policies and strategic program design to ensure all facilities have best in class security procedures, capabilities, methods and clear long-range goals and objectives
Oversees incident investigation, case management, and evidence (in accordance with legal requirements) and resolves cases in an appropriate manner. This may include arrest, prosecution, correction action, and recommendations for preventative measure.
Ensures regular and comprehensive auditing against security standards and timely, completed corrective actions
Identify potential loss-prevention concerns / fraud and proactively resolve or prevent them from occurring in a coordinated program with customers
Create and deploy security training coursework and instruction to enhance employee skill sets and awareness
Drive organized nationwide procedures/training for (among others): emergency evacuation and access control at all U.S. facilities
Reviews results of security violation investigations and present results/actions to senior leadership
Directs large, highly-complex company-wide or interdepartmental projects having strategic business importance
Accountabilities:
· Provide leadership to the Security Managers in the United States, developing an operational culture that provides a secure DHL Network
· Is part of the US Operations Senior Management Team
· Additionally, sits on Regional and Global Security boards, providing guidance and insight to U.S. policies that may impact other parts of the DHL Network
· Motivate, coach and retain qualified staff; provide support, expertise and management training to direct reports
· Develops local metrics in order to measure effectiveness of security programs and implements across business.
· Support staff onward career development and shaping direction
· Develop and promote team spirit and communication channels within the group and the function within the country
Skill & Qualifications:
Recognized subject matter expert in corporate/logistics security
Typically requires BS/BA in related discipline and at least 10 years of increasingly diverse or complex applications in field of expertise or MS/MA and generally at least 8 years of experience in related field including security management experience in an international service related environment
Experience with managing and working on cyber security programs as well as a mastery of existing and emerging technologies, processes and practices
· Ability to shape direction with government agencies
Advanced communication skills (verbal and written)
Professional certification required in some areas
Knowledge and experience implementing TAPA FSR standards to U.S. sites
