Customer service, answering questions, solving internal and external requests, clearance processing, and issuing employee ID badges. Suitability/Fitness Processing involves procedures established by various Government agencies for suitability investigations, determinations, and actions as established by the Code of Federal Regulations (5 CFR 731). As a condition of employment, all applicants and contractors must undergo a background investigation that meets
their position’s designated risk or sensitivity level. As a Suitability/Fitness Processor the responsibilities will include the following:
- Gather and verify personnel data to be used for pre-employment Entry on Duty (EOD) and related federal security processes, including but not limited to security forms reviews, case set-up, law checks, credit checks, and employment and citizenship verifications.
- Assist with the preparation of all documents, materials, and information required for final determination regarding suitability, security, and access determinations and create a security folder.
- Track and maintain copies of all Suitability candidates and process related documents.
- Review documents for completeness and accuracy, returning documents to originator for additional information and clarification, requesting additional documentation as needed, submitting appropriate requests for other related information and responding to inquiries.
- Document and record information necessary for the processing and tracking of all actions in various personnel security related databases for historical and tracking purposes.
- Assist with personnel security case processing responsibilities including: Identifying, tracking, and contacting individuals tasked to complete security paperwork.
- Reconciling records of departing employees to ensure all files are separated, background investigations are discontinued, and electronic records are updated.
- Completing daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports pertaining to hiring and separation actions.
- Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) required for implementation of the Federal Identity, Credentialing, and Access Management (FICAM) initiatives.
- Training will be provided on the usage of MITRE’s internal personnel security tracking database.
Additional Duties include:
- Assist with Weekly New-Hire orientation includes maintaining new-hire list, preparing handouts, escorting, verifying the identity of new-hires, processing employee photos, fingerprinting, PKI issuance, obtaining identification and access needs; knowledge of CCURES preferred but training will be provided.
Required Skills:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Attention to detail and meticulous recordkeeping.
- Exceptional problem solving and case management abilities
- Account for and maintain personnel security information using various online security automated systems and to prepare and process security correspondence.
- Strong multi-tasking skills and ability to work in a fast paced high-volume setting.
- Ability to exercise the utmost discretion in the handling of personally Identifiable Information (PII).
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft office automation tools/applications (Word/Excel).
Preferred Qualifications
Candidate must possess a current SSBI and be able to maintain a security clearance.
Must be self-motivated and possess good judgment.
Ability to execute assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
Must have the ability to deal effectively with all levels of the MITRE and Government communities.
Working knowledge of JPAS, CCURES, and EQIP experience a plus.
Minimum Education/ Experience
High school diploma or equivalent, plus 5 years of experience or the equivalent in job-relevant work experience
Travel Statement *This position will require overnight travel up to xx % of the time as well as some local travel.
Clearance Top Secret
Clearance Statement To be eligible for consideration for this position, a current Top Secret clearance is required. Only US citizens are eligible for a security clearance. For this position, MITRE will consider only applicants with security clearances.
