Job Description:
The JTAC/CAS system operator/maintainer shall serve as primary squadron simulator operator. Coordinates, plans, and manages all squadron Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTAC), and aligned/invited Joint Fires Observer (JFO) simulator training activities, including scheduling and operations. Routinely coordinates with the Chief JTAC-Instructor and Distributed Training Operations Center (DTOC)/Distributed Mission Operations Center (DMOC) schedulers to ensure training assets are available. Serves as squadron simulation operations training and scheduling manager. Plans, develops, schedules, and synchronizes all aspects of JTAC simulator operations training. Responsible for working with the simulator manufacturer to maintain and repair unit owned JTAC simulators. Maintains JTAC and operations training related information and training documents and maintains archives related to training. This includes preparing and presenting any training reports for submission to Squadron/Group Commanders as required. Acts as Squadron distributed mission operations (DMO) expert and attends the DMO Users Conference as required.
Required Hours:
Work may include nights, holidays, and weekends on short notice. Standard will be to conduct training six (6) days per week for up to eight (8) hours per day while at OCONUS work site(s) and a standard 40 hour work week while at CONUS work sites.
Responsibilities:
· Provide functional expertise and input for use of training device equipment and instructor/training mission profiles and scenarios. Advises squadron leadership on effective use of simulator assets. Operates simulator and provides JTAC instruction during training event. Provides formal and informal briefings on both individual event performance and simulator utilization and maintains simulator data for later reference and reporting.
· Maintains liaison with distributed simulation centers, flying units, and other affected agencies in JTAC training activities.
· Satisfies training requirements through development of simulator supported training plans. Conducts analysis to determine optimum use of simulator equipment, systems and instructors. Attends simulator meetings and/or provides input to Group, Wing, or MAJCOM as required to communicate requirements, simulator issues, and needs. Provide squadron leadership budget reports for current and future simulator operating expenses. Implements policies, procedures, and support agreements for training with other AF units and supported Army units.
· Attends modeling and simulation courses, conferences, and briefings to increase knowledge of use of simulation for training processes and procedures. Remains current of changes to materials.
· Regularly interacts with US military personnel.
Required Qualifications:
· Ability to evaluate, improve, and draft unit training plans and programs; manage training records and provide reports on individual training progression and training system utilization
· Working knowledge of simulator operations, scenario development, all applicable distributed training networks, network security and training network standards.
· Application knowledge of JTAC / JFO communications and targeting equipment applied to CAS planning and execution
· Skill in designing and conducting comprehensive training programs, and preparing solutions to resolve substantive problems and issues of effectiveness and efficiency related to unit training systems and their application
· Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; problem solve complex issues; and maintain good working relationships
· Must be competent with using Microsoft Office
· Must be competent with operating Personal Computer (PC) Skills

Physical Requirements/Working Environment:
· Must be willing to work and live in Kuwait with an understanding that there could be further assignments to any location in Kuwait based upon the needs of the U.S. Government, to include hostile and austere areas.
· Must be able to routinely climb / descend stairs.
· Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows / knees, and reach above / below shoulders.
· Employee will be required to work and live in a potentially hostile environment, at remote locations, and under austere conditions.
· Employee may be required to respond to a wide variety of operational circumstances, under extreme weather conditions, within a hostile environment.
· The individual may be exposed to extreme noise from aircraft, hostile fire, and other acts of aggression associated with this region.
Desired Qualifications:
·TACP community experience or service equivalent within the last 5 years
·Knowledge of differing simulation systems to include Live, Virtual, and Constructive (LVC), and standard modeling and simulation terminology
·Knowledge of simulator Information Assurance and physical security requirements
·Operational knowledge of all USAF and Joint training network architectures and their standards
·Knowledge of simulator configuration Management policies and guidelines
·Comprehensive knowledge of close air support tactics, techniques and procedures and use of all JTAC communication and targeting equipment
·Knowledge of various administrative and program policies, concepts and funding/budgetary issues relating to the management of unit simulators
·Possess current DoD Secret security clearance eligibility
Required Education:
·Bachelor's degree from accredited school & six (6) years of related experience, OR four (4) years related experience with Master's degree. Eight (8) years of additional equivalent work experience (14 total years) may be accepted in lieu of BA/BS education requirement.
