Job Description
Implement, administer and manage the corporate security and safety programs within the assigned site or sites within an area or a sub-region of responsibility. Leads and manages specific security and safety programs to reduce losses and protect company assets including persons, physical, financial and information. Partners with corporate, regional and site resources including others in Corporate Security &
Safety, Corporate Real Estate Services, Human Resources, Corporate Insurance Risk Management, Legal, Business Continuity Planning and site operations management on security and safety related matters. Manages guard force, security systems, security & safety programs and conducts investigations. Conducts assessments, reviews and inspections to ensure adherence to corporate polices and standards, regulatory compliance and reduce losses. Provides direction and assists regional and site business partners and stakeholders in conducting and coordinating training for general security and safety programs to ensure objectives are met.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Implement, administer and manage the corporate security and safety programs within the assigned site or sites within an area or a sub-region of responsibility. Leads, manages and executes specific security programs to reduce losses and protect company assets including persons, medications/inventory, other physical assets, financial and information. Partners with corporate, regional and site resources including others in Site Operations, IT, Corporate Security, Corporate Real Estate Services, Human Resources, Corporate Insurance Risk Management, Legal and Business Continuity Planning on security matters.
Manages site security guard forces according to department policies within assigned area or sub-region. Develops site specific procedures. Provides contract oversight to ensure compliance with contract provisions, requirements and service levels. Ensures that security, fire & life safety and safety programs are developed, assigned to guard staff and completed according to department policies, directives and in compliance with applicable regulations. Manages security and safety incident reporting and record-keeping requirements according to department policies, directives and in compliance with applicable regulations. Maintains relationships with contract security guard service providers.
Manages security systems at company locations within the assigned area or sub-region according to department policies, directives and in compliance with applicable regulations. Coordinates security systems function within area or sub-region communicating regularly with Corporate Security systems staff. Ensures that systems are inspected, tested and serviced according to department standards. Provides for accurate administration and monitoring of systems as required for each site. Conducts physical security assessments for each site; evaluating general building construction, door hardware, life safety, locks/keys, security systems (alarm, card access systems, CCTV, intercom) and communicates findings and recommendations to more senior department management and security systems staff. Ensures that site security systems within the assigned area or sub-region are managed according to department policies, directives and in compliance with applicable regulations. Maintains and supports relationships with local and regional security system integrators and service providers.
Manages and conducts security and safety investigations within the assigned area or sub-region. Conducts internal security investigations in cases of theft, fraud, violence, threats or similar cases of misconduct by employees, contractors or other invitees. Coordinates security investigations with Corporate Security investigations staff, Legal and Human Resources departments as needed. Conducts investigations under direction of Corporate Security department management or the Legal Department. Ensures that investigations within the assigned area or sub-region are conducted according to department policies, directives and in compliance with applicable regulations and law. Establishes and maintains relationships with the DEA, law enforcement and key security contacts.
Coordinates and supports the department’s safety function assigned area or sub-region:
Site safety programs may include but are not limited to: MSDS/Right-to-Know, hazard/safety communication, powered industrial trucks, fall prevention, ergonomics, hearing preservation, disease prevention/blood-borne pathogen, driver safety/training, confined space, electrical safety, machine/process control safety, lock-out/tag-out, fire & life safety and respiratory protection. In addition, company construction safety programs may exist on a more limited and temporary basis. Participates in insurance loss control/prevention reviews. Coordinates safety training and record-keeping with Corporate Safety, Corporate Real Estate Services, Human Resources and business unit management. Reviews safety and environmental related incidents and may respond to and/or conduct safety related incident and accident investigations. Participates in OSHA inspections, accident investigations, insurance investigations and/or other similar reviews and/or inspections at sites within assigned area or sub-region.
Serve as Subject-Matter-Expert for security and safety topics and issues. Stay abreast of new regulations, industry best practices, industry trends and technology, products and services. Recognize, respond to, and recommend actions to address both potential and realized security and safety risks affecting personnel or property.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Core experience in security or related field is required. Strong working knowledge of security practices is required. Experience within a multiple facility environment and/or corporate security function preferred.
Strong working knowledge of potentially applicable criminal and civil laws to security and safety functions, fire/life safety codes, standards, practices/recommendations and regulations to include, but are not limited to those that may be promulgated by OSHA, NFPA, ASIS, FTC, DEA and/or security regulations common to state boards of pharmacies.
Bachelor’s degree in security, social sciences, business or equivalent experience is required. Advanced degree is preferred.
Professional certifications such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Professional Certified Investigator (PCI) or similar security related certification is preferred. Training and/or certification by federal in security and/or safety topics are desired
Working knowledge and experience with general building systems and construction practices. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills and a general mechanical aptitude.
Experience in a training capacity and/or technical support role within a security department or related field experience is preferred.
Ability to plan, prioritize and schedule resources including remotely.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Must be able to create policies, programs, procedures, training/education materials, specifications and Requests For Proposals (RFP). Ability to communicate and work closely with internal departments and external entities such as regulators, architects, designers, contractors, and suppliers.
Strong working knowledge and experience with common office computer systems, database and spreadsheet utilities. Working knowledge and experience with electronics, PCs, networks, communications devices, alarm devices, sensors & systems, door hardware, basic building construction, blueprints & plans, technical system specifications.
Ability to wear PPE including respirator. Ability to work in situations that may require work around hazards, entry into confined spaces, with heights and other non-standard office environments.
Ability to exercise good judgment and work under pressure. Capacity to effectively and continuously work with sensitive information.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle. A driver’s license must be obtained within 30 days of employment and maintained in good standing. Additional professional security and investigative certifications and/or licenses may be required.
Ability to be on-call and respond to incidents on a 24-hour basis and/or work on short-notice and/or during non-standard working hours.
Ability to travel as needed (approximate travel is estimated at 15-35%).
