General Questions:
Knowledge of weapons mechanical systems
Ability to recognize and determine the best method to correct malfunctions, and the skill to fit and adjust mechanical parts and assemblies
Previous work‐related skill, knowledge and experience servicing and repairing and inspecting small arms,
including automatic pistols, rifles, machine guns and related sighting equipment
MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:
Perform the full range of work involved with technical inspections, maintenance, and repair of small arms
Make initial diagnosis and locate mechanical deficiencies of small arms
Troubleshoot and order parts for the repair of small arms
Conduct operational tests for small arms.
Read, understand, and perform the processes and reports in FLMS/SAMS IE maintenance management systems
Observe all safety rules, regulations and procedures of small arms. Must be able to read, understand and interpret Army Regulation 190-13 and Army Regulation 190-51
Knowledgeable of federal, state, local, Army and Army Reserve policies and procedures for the transportation and shipment of small arms
Prepare, perform, and maintain property accountability and inventory forms and reports for all weapons requirements.
Qualifications and Experience:
Formal training and certification of completion of military small arms repair or equivalent civilian gunsmith training is required. Documented experience with modern US military weapons is required. All individuals in this occupation are required to meet the security requirements of Army Regulation 190‐11 and maintain security of weapons in a military small arms vault. A minimum of 3 years of experience performing weapons repair and previous exposure to arms room procedures are required.
High School graduate.
