This position is located in the Driver Training Branch, Driver and Firearms Training Division, Office of Artesia Operations, Field Training Directorate, Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, Artesia, New Mexico. Serves as an instructor in the assigned Driver Training Branch (DTB) program/course areas of law enforcement.
Applicable relocation expenses will not be paid.
KEY REQUIREMENTS
You must be a U.S. citizen to apply for this position.
You must successfully pass a background investigation.
You will be required to undergo initial and random drug screening.
Must possess and maintain valid driver’s licensure requirements.
DUTIES:
Serves as an instructor in driver training related courses. Conducts training in areas such as:
- Basic Police Officer Training Program
- United States Border Patrol Integrated Training Program
- Basic Corrections Officer Training Program
- Basic ATV Operations
Monitors progress of students, documents results, and/or recommends remedial and corrective action to include additional training and changes in training and/or operational procedures and instructions.
Conducts research on emerging technology, practices and techniques to enhance instructional knowledge and skill.
Participates in ad hoc committees made up of representatives of the FLETC and other agencies concerned with training policies and academic requirements.

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: In order to be considered for this position, applicants must possess experience as a law enforcement officer, or agent with full arrest authority in the prevention, detection, apprehension, detention and /or investigation of felony and/or misdemeanor violations of Federal, state, local, tribal, or military criminal laws.
OR
Must have held a position in the 1801 occupational series.
AND
For the GS-12 grade level: In addition to the Selective Placement Factor above, at the GS-12 grade level applicants must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service performing driver training instructional duties (evaluating other officer/agents) as a collateral duty.
OR
You must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service instructing basic and advanced law enforcement training curriculum in the driver topical areas to include: emergency response (ER); non-emergency vehicle operation (NEVO); traffic stops; pursuits; evasive driving; and/or, precision intervention techniques.
