Job Description
Under the supervision of the Vice President, Ballpark Operations, the position will plan, establish, implement and provide coordinated leadership and direction in all aspects of safety and security, procedures and policies to protect the staff, reputation, facility and other assets of the Chicago Cubs.
Work collaboratively with external groups such as Major League Baseball, federal, state, local law enforcement and emergency services as well as internally with the Chicago Cubs management, Event Operations and Legal departments. This position will collaborate with the Senior Director of Event Operations and their team on security and safety matters regarding the events at Wrigley Field.
The Director will ensure a coordinated security program is successfully executed at all locations owned by the Chicago Cubs.
Responsibilities
Provide oversight and management of all security and safety related matters at all owned and leased Chicago Cubs facilities. To oversee the security operations and associates at each of these locations providing 24/7 security.
Implement policies, procedures, standards, training, and methods for the protection of associates, players, intellectual property, products, operations and facilities from unauthorized disclosure, counterfeiting, piracy, misuse, theft, assault, vandalism, espionage, sabotage or financial loss.
Oversee and monitor the security systems at all locations. These would include CCTV, access control and radio communications.
Develop and ensure implementation of security and emergency response plans and procedures for all facilities.
Work closely with the Chicago Cubs Facilities Management team on the planning of facilities projects. Advise the Facilities Planning and Operations Department regarding security implications for new construction in addition to building renovations.
Ensure effective coordination with law enforcement, fire, medical and other emergency resources.
Instruct Security System Management on the implementation and use of new security and safety systems being installed.
Ensure a high level of oversight for senior executives concerning security and safety related policies
Required Qualifications
4-year accredited college degree, preferably in Engineering, Operations, Environmental Health & Safety, Business Administration/Management, or Criminal Justice or seven (7) years of security work experience in a large institutional or governmental environment.
A minimum of five (5) years of managerial and policy making experience in the security field.
Previous work experience preparing and managing capital and operational budgets.
Excellent communication and administrative skills.
Valid driver’s license and vehicle.
Prefered Qualifications
Vendor management experience.
Advanced education in Security / Law Enforcement / Criminal Justice or equivalent Strong safety background.
