Job Description
PULAU Corporation is seeking Range Ops Specialists in support of the TSS NTC Range Support effort under the CALIBRE subcontract. This is an hourly, non-exempt position at the hourly rate of $21.85. This position is located at Fort Irwin, CA and no relocation assistance is available. This position staffs the Range
Control firing desk 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to serve as the focal point to control and assist range using units and control range access. This position is under a Collective Bargaining Unit.
Job Duties:
Issues range portfolios and access passes.
Maintains continuous two-way radio communication with military and civilian personnel in training areas and using units of ranges and documents hourly communication checks and range/training area activity status.
Operates and updates the Range Facility Management Support System (RFMSS).
Manages operation of Drop Zones in coordination with ATC personnel.
Operates the crash alarm system and when necessary coordinate for the mishap per procedures.
Reports and initiates weapons/ammunition malfunctions procedures.
Issues safety equipment as needed for range operations.
Ensures historical data on types/quantities of ammunition fired is maintained.
Notifies G-3 of serious incidents/emergencies on ranges/training areas.
Serves as focal point for medical evacuation control.
Initiates the mishap/MEDEVAC request procedures, processes the initial incident report, activates necessary alarms, dispatches emergency response agencies, notifies affected agencies and restricts operations as necessary.
Job Requirements:
Must possess a valid California driver’s license and the ability to obtain a military driver’s license within the first 30 days of employment.
Must be able pass a security background check to obtain a position of Public Trust.
Able to work with difficult customers in a professional manner; react calmly and professionally when receiving calls for medical and emergency support from panicked or confused callers; monitor and communicate using telephonic and radio systems.
Able to work 2nd or 3rd shift, holidays and weekends.
Ability to use and interpret Army Manuals.
Basic understanding of military range control and field training operations.
Experience with military phraseology and acronyms.
Experience with processing, logging, filing and coordinating follow up actions to forms and verbal information.
Must know how to orient and read a military map to an eight digit grid coordinate, and basic knowledge of military weapons and ammunition.
Capable of reading and writing English to assist customers with ranges.
Capable of using FM communications in an articulate and knowledgeable manner.
