Role synopsis
Fulltime security professional that identifies, assesses, monitors and reviews security risks to sites.
Provides security advice to offshore and onshore operations.
Guides and supports site managers to meet requirements of BP Security Standard.
Advises managers on protective security measures required by HMG at those sites identified by Government as Critical National Infrastructure.
Makes sure that security is taken into account during planning and implementation of new projects or business expansion, as part of Major Projects Common Process.
Provides security consultancy and support to site management.
Supports management in handling of security incidents.
Conducts security audits and advises on action plans to mitigate threats and vulnerabilities and assist with CCM audits where required to meet the identified Key performance Indicators.
Liaises with police, CPNI and DfT (Transec).
Liaises with, and provides security advice to partners and suppliers.
Audits security measures in place at partners and suppliers e.g. Heliports, Airports and Marine Bases providing support to Offshore Installations.
Undertakes role of Access & Control Manager for North Sea Headquarters.
Key accountabilities
Identify and assess security risks within the businesses and develop plans to mitigate key exposures to our people, operations, assets, information, intellectual property, and reputation ensuring these are recorded and implemented as part of the annual Security Risk Assessment process.
Develops site Security Plans to meet key security exposures.
conducts and coordinates day-to-day security operational activities.
Guide and support management to meet requirements of the BP Security Standard.
Support management to conduct and manage the risk assessment process. Includes networking with disciplines from Digital Security, Business Continuity Planning and Crisis Management.
Support management in handling of security incident/crisis responses.
Develop, maintain, and implement security procedures and plans (includes civil crisis and terrorist threat/attack management plans).
Develop and implement security awareness programs.
Advise on or investigate acts of criminality or fraud against the Company within the guidelines of the BP Fraud Framework and Escalated Cases.
Supervise executive protection if appropriate.
Networking with Regional Security Advisers (RSAs) and Business Security Representatives.
Maintains and reviews contingency plans for bomb threat evaluation, search and evacuation.
Maintains and reviews contingency plans for demonstrations or protestor activity.
Ensures that sites understand BP alert states and HMG threat and response levels and provide guidance on implementation.
Produces and implements security awareness training programmes for staff and contractors.
Work with the Crisis Continuity Management (CCM) team to assist with the development and delivery of exercises.
Maintain and demonstrate that the Security requirements for the region are fully incorporated into the CCM exercise schedule for the Region.
Essential Education -
Essential experience and job requirements Experienced professional with prior experience in the police, intelligence, security services or other law enforcement agencies, or have a background as a professional security manager with commercial experience.
Significant experience of leading operational security and risk assessment processes.
Knowledge of and experience in the implementation of, physical, personal and technical surveillance commensurate with large secure sites and events.
Investigative experience.
Experience of the handling and actioning of intelligence and information relating to security matters.
A sound knowledge of the security pertaining to the UK critical national infrastructure and CNI and ISPS sites.
Experience of the UK Offshore Oil & Gas Industry.
Can evidence previous personal success in developing and implementing KPI metrics and review methods.
Fully conversant in Scottish Law and Order from Policing perspective.
Other essential skills and knowledge Strong interpersonal skills.
Clear and concise presenter of oral and written proposals and plans.
Capable of representing company interests and security concerns to Government Agencies and at industry committees.
Confident communicator who is able to influence and persuade senior management to adopt and apply the organisation’s requirements with regard to security, risk management and control arrangements.
Detailed knowledge and understanding of security risk management process.
Proven ability to create threat, risk and vulnerability assessments.
Practical experience in carrying out physical security inspections and surveys, and report writing.
Experience of working with police and government regulators.
Knowledge of identity management systems and control of access processes.
The role will be permanently based in Aberdeen.
Desirable criteria & qualifications Successfully attended training courses sponsored by Centre for Protection of National.
Infrastructure (CPNI) at Home Office Centre for Applied Science and Technology (CAST) or equivalent.
UK Government vetted to Counter-Terrorism Check (CTC) level or above.
ISPS trained.
Experience of managing a manned guarding contract.
