Description:
Ensure staff and residents are protected and the facility remains a safe environment.
Responsibilities:
• Facilitate a secure and functional environment for residents, visitors, and volunteers
• Work with assigned security staff to welcome new families that arrive and conduct orientations on facility rules
• Be familiar with procedures for fire and safety and other emergency procedures required
• Have an understanding of building features and potential problems
• Conduct routine and random apartment inspections with security officers
• Conduct vertical sweeps of the facility to monitor resident safety and traffic
• Handle crisis by deciding what actions are required and inform appropriate staff on actions taken; follow up, if necessary, through log book, written note or telephone conversation
• Observe all residents and have the ability to recognize signs of substance abuse, child abuse, and criminal activity and immediately advise the appropriate staff and work with the facility staff to conduct investigation
• Attend program and agency staff meetings, house meetings, case conferences, and training sessions
• Maintain daily log book, school attendance, visitor, and resident sign-in logs
• Perform other duties as assigned by Program Director
SkillsRequirements:
• Associates or Bachelors Degree required with knowledge and experience in building security
• Valid NYS Security Guard License
• Ability to interact with the facility staff and client population
• Ability to work under pressure and stressful situations
