- Provide leadership, organization, and management to the various security and life safety efforts at the unique and challenging setting of the Boyers Underground to ensure a results-oriented approach as well as the effective and efficient use of resources to reduce risk and provide security for The Underground.
- Coordinate efforts with program leads for Risk Management, Internal Audit, Global Real Estate, and Business Continuity to provide thorough analysis of risks and development of appropriate mitigating strategies.
- As a direct report to the Vice President of Protective Services, assume responsibility for the physical protection of The Underground assets including the Iron Mountain brand, business operations, facilities, clients, tenants, employees, visitors and customer materials stored there.
- Work closely with North America and IM Data Center management teams (local and corporate) to influence change in and procedures in order to reduce risk and prevent loss while balancing the business and customer needs.
- In accordance with established practices contribute program performance measurements that will provide a means to analyze and address ongoing and emerging trends.
- Plan, direct, and coordinate necessary training efforts relating to security, safety, crisis management emergency response/ preparedness, and workplace violence.
- Control and manage the purchase and installation of life safety and security related materials, devices and equipment as deemed necessary to address needed safety and security upgrades and improvements and ensure they are in compliance with IM equipment specifications.
- Coordinate on a regular basis with government and private tenant managers and security personnel for the various Underground businesses and agencies to ensure they are informed with regard to safety and security issues.
- Respond effectively to safety and security issues raised by Underground tenant managers, government regulators or internal/external auditors and inspectors.
- Continually review and refine emergency plans for the Underground to include development and rehearsal of emergency evacuation plans and active shooter plans.
- Manage facility access control procedures, processes and equipment and upgrade as necessary in compliance with IM Facility policy and equipment specifications.
- Work closely with Iron Mountain maintenance and construction teams as well as Global Real Estate personnel and outside vendors and contractors to address design and construction of new space or installation of safety or security related items.
- Manage the hiring, activities, training and scheduling for on-site proprietary guard force.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent and 10+ years of security experience; combination of private sector and law enforcement experience is preferred
- Crisis management experience
- Disaster recovery experience
- Procedures development experience
- Ability to develop and implement strategic plans and the ability to foster team-building approaches to security responsibilities
- A high degree of management, interpersonal, and organizational skills and effectiveness in dealing with all management levels
- Experience in a matrix organization
- Strong PC skills as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong leadership skills, allowing a close working relationship with The Underground management and regional management (matrix reporting to regional management)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; effective at dealing with all levels of management
