Role synopsisThe Security Supervisor at the BP Whiting Refinery will provide security and customer interface at the Whiting Business Unit, as well as emergency medical care for accident or injury victims including the capability to work in a confined space rescue and other emergency response functions. The Security Supervisor will lead a shift security team assigned to protect the people and assets of the Whiting Business Unit. In addition, the Security Supervisor will participate as a
representative of the BP Emergency Services Department on various refinery teams and projects.

Key accountabilities
- Lead a Shift Security Team in the conducting foot and vehicle patrol functions both inside and outside the Refinery watching for irregularities (such as fire hazards, leaks, equipment malfunctions, unauthorized entry,) and intervene or report such incidents and problems immediately to Refinery Leadership – Responsible for training, coaching, and performance management of shift personnel – Respond to refinery emergencies and evacuations to ensure the safety of personnel and effectively control access to the incident or maintain the safety of evacuees – Respond to emergencies as part of a response team to handle injuries and illnesses, rescue, hazmat, spills, and rehab as required – Excellent written and verbal communications skills and ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the assigned work place from hourly to facility management – Lead a Security Team in performing driving safety enforcement, and traffic control to include the issuing of traffic warnings and tickets – As required function in a dispatch role for the Emergency Services organization by answering phones to the dispatch center and monitoring the radio and various security, fire and safety systems along with dispatching the appropriate resources as required in a backup or relief mode – Perform other duties as assigned as part of an Emergency Services Organization.

Essential Education
- Minimum of a High School Diploma is required for this role

Essential experience and job requirements
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Security Supervisor or 8 years’ experience in Law Enforcement, Military Police, emergency services or Corporate Security – Experience in security program development, physical security, security regulations – MTSA, CFATS, CTPAT, security vulnerability assessments or demonstrated supervisory experience in full time law enforcement or emergency services. – EMT certification and / or with the ability to obtain a State of Indiana certification within 6 – 9 months of hire. – Preferred Rescue training and experience with Confined Space rescues. – Firefighter and Hazmat certification or training a plus

Other Requirements (e.g. Travel, Location)
- Ability to learn various security programs for reports, access control databases, camera systems, radio system, etc. – Valid driver’s license and possess a clear driving record – Ability to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) – Ability to drive an ambulance and other emergency vehicles – Ability to communicate clearly in person, by radio and telephone, with excellent communications and writing skills – Ability to work on a rotating shift schedule that includes nights and weekends – Demonstrated ability to write incident and ambulance reports, etc.

Desirable criteria & qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Emergency Services, Homeland Security or equivalent Military experience – Rescue training and experience with Confined Space rescues – Firefighter and Hazmat certification or training
