Position Description
The RAND Corporation is seeking a Security Specialist for our Pittsburgh, PA office. The position is responsible for implementing RAND security policies and procedures related to information, personnel and physical security, and health and safety of the Pittsburgh, Boston and New Orleans facility.
The position will report to the Pittsburgh office Security Manager. This is an exceptional opportunity for a security professional to work with other security staff in a team environment offering challenges, growth and opportunities to learn.
Specific responsibilities include:
Assist with multiple security databases and sites including JPAS and eQIP.
Brief new employees on the procedures and policies that need to be followed.
Assist with the Pittsburgh, Boston and New Orleans security education.
Speak at Administrative Assistant (AA) meetings about various Security items.
Present at the monthly security education lunch-and-learns.
Respond to Security Helpdesk incidents.
Respond to Segue tasks
Manage the access control system to include issue of initial, replacement and temporary badges.
Provide reports and view tape to assist in investigations, and initiate work orders as necessary.
Implement security procedures according to the NISPOM and ICDs.
Assist with the Pittsburgh lock & safe program.
Assign and maintain access cards in the RAND door lock system and coordinate with property management for building and parking access.
Support the FSO or his designee with periodic security self-inspections and report results to senior management.
Maintain and analyze statistical security data for monthly reports provide to the Corporate Director, Security & Safety.
Provide escort responsibilities for vendors or in support of meetings.
Promote positive customer service and coordination with external vendors
Serve as a member of the Emergency Response Team.
Perform other team members’ duties, as required
Qualifications
Knowledge of National Industrial Security Program (NISPOM) and other government regulations.
Must be proficient in JPAS and EQIP.
Ability to adjust quickly and adapt to changing priorities.
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Discretion and professional demeanor.
Ability to work well independently as well as part of a team.
Strong computer skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as the ability to learn new computer applications.
Attention to detail.
Strong organizational skills.
Proven customer service skills
Education Requirements
Associates degree or equivalent experience
Experience
The successful candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience (3-5 preferred) supporting security and safety operations for a contractor or government agency, meeting national security and intelligence community client requirements and knowledge of government regulations.
Security Clearance
Candidates will be required to obtain a government clearance. U.S. citizenship required
