Security Operations Manager

Overview
This position leads the Global Threat Management, Security Operations team comprised of two functional groups, global guard force and special events support. The position leads the global physical security initiatives to include ownership of our Security Operations Centers.

This is a strategic role with global implications. The role will focus on “getting things done” in a fast paced and time sensitive environment encompassing all domestic and international company equities.


This position is a key team member of Global Threat Management interfacing with business units across the enterprise. The successful candidate will possess the right blend of technical expertise, management ability and proven success in global applications. Candidates must be value driven with world-class diplomatic and customer service skills, and be able to interface seamlessly with the unique Twitter corporate culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the global company security guard force and, as needed, special event security planning and guard force support
  • Manage local vendor guard force operations managers at company facilities, to include full performance, staffing, and timely and full completion of all Security Incident Reporting
  • Develop and implement key initiatives to drive reduction of security incidents, property theft, and violation of company security policies (eg security escort program, awareness education, etc)
  • Oversee the proper utilization of incident response and incident management policies; to include documentation, notification, dissemination, and escalation
  • Partner with Procurement, Finance, Legal, HR, Comms, and Accounting and other stakeholders, handling all guard contracts and Master Service Agreements –to include ensuring terms are satisfied, invoices are correct, and any renegotiations or re-bids are done in full accordance with company policies and best interests
  • Collect evidence with a thorough understanding of evidence collection best practices
  • Ensure full compliance with and update, as needed, the corporate physical security guidelines policy and site-specific Post Orders
  • Develop and implement training and exercises for guard force and subordinates to maintain critical knowledge and skills and support professional development
    • Maintain continued staff alertness and readiness, and ensure awareness of all procedures in event of emergencies
  • Demonstrated understanding of criminal justice systems and proven ability to coordinate incident response and investigations with law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies as needed
  • Successful candidates for this key role must have a high degree of integrity and capacity to work independently, under tight time constraints
  • Manage multiple complex projects and investigations simultaneously
  • Communicates effectively and tactfully with diverse groups of individuals at all levels of the company

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum of ten years experience managing and conducting government and/or corporate security guard force operations. Experience in the international high tech corporate environment preferred
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology, Sociology, Security Management, Business, Economics, Finance, or related field. Master’s degree or higher in a similar field preferred
  • Extensive experience leading and managing guard force operations internationally and in distributed office locations with a track record of demonstrated success
  • Experience working with a large variety of different types of sensitive investigations, with an in-depth understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities facing a rapidly growing company
  • Strong interpersonal skills required to establish and maintain positive relationships with other Twitter employees globally
  • Demonstrated success in managing security operations centers – video and alarm monitoring, incident reduction, facility security, personnel safety and crime reduction operations
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with diverse groups of individuals and at all levels of an enterprise verbally and in writing
  • Certification through a national or internationally recognized organization (ASIS, etc)
  • Preferred foreign language proficiency
  • Ability to live and work immediately in the US.
  • Possession of a valid passport with no travel restrictions
  • Willingness and ability to travel on short notice in support of GTM operations and initiatives
