The Senior Maritime Safety and Security Advisor reports directly to the Executive Director and serves as the primary and senior staff lead within the US Committee on Marine Transportation System (CMTS) Executive Secretariat for all maritime transportation safety, security, and related issues and activities; in particular, the Future of Navigation Integrated Action Team. May be required to seek out subject matter experts related to navigation safety technologies, to provide briefs, and reports as appropriate. Position also responsible to organize and manage related CMTS meetings and follow up reports and tasks. May be required to seek out and contact subject matter experts to gather relevant data and expertise to support related CMTS activities. Other duties as assigned may include support for CMTS Principal, Board and Working Group meetings.
This position requires sitting in a climate controlled office environment for long periods with occasional walking and climbing stairs. Requires an extensive amount of time viewing a computer monitor. Must be able to travel, as required. Occasionally lifts up to 35 lbs. Must have good written and verbal communications skills and be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

- Minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience.
- Must have in-depth experience working with large groups and coordinating events.
- Must have comprehensive understanding of the maritime sector.
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIRED: Current Secret Security Clearance or the ability to successfully obtain/maintain a Secret Security Clearance is required.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE: Experience working with federal government clients is a plus.

- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of experience and education required.
